Short version: Use this tool for learning. Don’t abuse the service, don’t try to scrape it, and don’t use it in ways that violate your school’s academic integrity policy. The tool is provided as-is — we’re not liable for errors in AI-generated solutions.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Solve by Photo at solvebyphoto.com (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors and users of the Service, regardless of whether you create an account (note: the Service does not currently require account creation).

2. Description of Service

Solve by Photo provides an AI-powered tool that allows users to upload photos or enter text descriptions of academic problems and receive AI-generated step-by-step solutions. The Service is intended as an educational aid to support learning and understanding.

The Service is provided for informational and educational purposes only. Solutions generated by the Service are produced by artificial intelligence and may contain errors. They should not be treated as authoritative or infallible.

3. Permitted Use

You may use the Service to:

  • Understand how to solve academic problems across supported subjects
  • Check your own working and identify errors in your approach
  • Learn methods and techniques for solving problem types
  • Generate practice solutions for study and revision purposes
  • Support your children’s or students’ learning as a parent or educator

4. Prohibited Use

You may not use the Service to:

  • Submit AI-generated solutions as your own work in violation of your institution’s academic integrity policy
  • Attempt to access the Service through automated means, bots, or scrapers
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or replicate the Service
  • Upload content that is illegal, abusive, threatening, or violates the rights of any third party
  • Upload images containing personally identifiable information of others without consent
  • Use the Service in any way that could damage, overload, or impair our infrastructure
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without written permission

5. Academic Integrity

Solve by Photo is designed as a learning tool, not a shortcut for submitting work you did not do. We strongly encourage users to:

  • Use solutions to understand method, not to copy answers directly into submitted work
  • Follow their school, college, or university’s academic integrity policies
  • Read and engage with the step-by-step reasoning rather than recording only the final answer

We are not responsible for any academic consequences resulting from misuse of the Service in violation of your institution’s policies. Please review our Academic Integrity page for more guidance.

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Solutions provided by the Service are generated by artificial intelligence. While we work to ensure accuracy, AI-generated solutions may contain errors, omissions, or incorrect reasoning. Always verify important solutions independently, particularly before relying on them for high-stakes academic work.

We do not warrant that solutions are correct, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. The Service is a tool to support learning — the responsibility for verifying and understanding solutions remains with the user.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, content, and branding, is owned by Solve by Photo and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any part of the Service without prior written permission.

Content you upload (photos, text) remains your property. By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process that content for the sole purpose of generating a solution. This licence terminates when processing is complete and the content is deleted.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Solve by Photo and its operators shall not be liable for:

  • Any errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated solutions
  • Any academic consequences resulting from use or misuse of the Service
  • Any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service
  • Any loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve months prior to the claim (which, for free-tier users, is zero).

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you agree to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved through good-faith negotiation where possible, and through appropriate legal channels where necessary.
